Ene.Museum awarded an EU prize
Ene.National Energy Museum will receive on June 1 in Lisbon, Portugal, the Prize for Cultural Heritage awarded by the European Union and the NGO Europa Nostra for the restoration works carried out in the old power station of the company Minero Siderúrgica de Ponferrada (MSP) and its conversion into one of its sites, Ene.térmica. The jury particularly appreciated the respect for the authentic features which maintain the original atmosphere of the power station.
Ene.Museum was selected along with 15 other projects in the category conservation. 26 cultural initiatives from all over Europe were selected among a total of 226 projects from 31 countries. The award ceremony will be held at the Monastery of Jerónimos in Lisbon. The European Commissioner for Education, Culture and Multilingualism and Youth, Androulla Vassiliou, the chairman of Europa Nostra, Plácido Domingo, the president of Portugal, Aníbal Cavaco Silva and the president of the Commission, José Manuel Barroso will be present at the event.
